Smarter Travel Project
The purpose of the Smarter Travel Study is to collect data through smartphone technology on how, when and where study participants travel within the community. The aggregate data collected will be analyzed and the findings will be used by the City of Dubuque and its transit partners to implement practices and policies that incorporate lower-cost and lower-impact travel options within Dubuque. The goal of the research is to identify options for Dubuque commuters to save money, conserve resources, and improve the environment through better travel choices, whether it's utilizing public transit, bicycles or walking. Another goal is to increase transit ridership by 10% over the course of the next three years. The City wants to make more educated decisions on where to put limited transportation funding resources related to transit and transportation. What road improvements are needed will be based on where people are travelling during the study.
This Plan targets anyone who commutes and travels in Dubuque on a daily basis and has an android or Iphone, and would like to be part of a research group that provides necessary baseline information to guide the future of Dubuque travel.
