DMATS Long Range Trasportation Plan Survey - Now Open!

DMATS kicks off long range transportation planning process with a public survey.

The Dubuque Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (DMATS) invites the regional community to help shape future of transportation in the Dubuque metropolitan area by participating in a new survey, available at https://eciatrans.org/dmats_lrtp_2055/.

As the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the region, DMATS is required by federal law to update its Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) every five years. The new plan will look ahead to the year 2055, mapping out a long range vision for managing and improving the region’s transportation system. The plan will address all relevant transportation topics, including roads, highways, and bridges; public transit; bicycle and pedestrian travel; transportation safety; intercity transportation, freight transportation; and more.

To create a plan that accurately reflects the needs of the region, DMATS is seeking input from the people that live, work, or travel in the region. Feedback collected through the survey and other methods will help identify key transportation issues and shape the strategies and investments recommended in the plan.

The DMATS planning area includes the city of Dubuque and surrounding communities and rural areas. In Iowa, this includes a portion of Dubuque County and the cities of Asbury, Centralia, Durango, Peosta, and Sageville. In Illinois, it includes part of Jo Daviess County and the city of East Dubuque. In Wisconsin, the planning area covers Jamestown Township in Grant County, including the communities of Kieler and Sandy Hook. See the map of the DMATS region on the following page.
