DMATS TAP Grants Available

The Dubuque Metropolitan Area Transportation Study (DMATS) is now accepting Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant applications from eligible applicants in the DMATS area. To apply for a TAP grant, applicants should complete the application form and submit all required application materials by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Eligible project activities include a variety of smaller-scale transportation projects such as pedestrian and bicycle facilities, recreational trails, and community improvements such as historic preservation, vegetation management, and some environmental mitigation related to storm water and habitat connectivity.

Funding for the DMATS TAP program comes from an annual suballocation of the State of Iowa’s federal Transportation Alternative Set-Aside funds. DMATS will use a competitive process to select projects for funding. DMATS will provide technical assistance to eligible entities needing help understanding how to apply.
